Attendance & Absences
Employees are expected to report to work on time and to observe the working hours that have been established. Although some absenteeism is necessary and expected, unacceptable absenteeism cannot be allowed as it has a serious effect upon productivity, reduces services to clients and customers, and lowers staff morale due to increased workloads on the remaining staff. Employees can only achieve maintaining the Company's quality services through a concerted attendance effort.
An employee is considered to be absent if he is not present for work during the prescribed work hours, including reporting late for work or returning late from lunch, or if he has not received advance permission for the absence.
An absence may be excused or unexcused. If the employee's supervisor determines that the employee's absence is due to illness, injury or some other reasonable cause, the employee's time of absence will be charged to the employee PTO.
If the supervisor determines that the employee's absence is unexcused, the employee will not be paid for the time missed. An unauthorized absence may be cause to subject an employee to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
If an employee is to be absent due to illness, injury or disability, he must notify his supervisor or other office personnel no later than thirty minutes after his normal starting time.
