Applying trade to Customer Invoice

When we are trading a client for services we invoice the job normally and then clear the balance using a trade discount.

  1. From the home screen in QuickBooks, under customers select Receive Payments
  2. Select the Customer
  3. Leave the Amount blank
  4. Select Payment Method – [Trade]
  5. Use todays date
  6. Click on the Discounts and Credits Icon at the top
  7. On the Discount tab, enter the amount of the trade (usually the invoice total) in the Amount of Discount field
  8. Enter account 8811-Trade for Services
  9. Click [Done]
  10. Click [Save & Close]
