Initial Review

All new employees and all present employees transferred or promoted to a new job assignment shall be evaluated for a period of three months. At the end of that period, performance will be reviewed and, if found satisfactory, the employee will become a fully participating staff member eligible for all benefits under the terms established in this Policies Manual.

During this evaluation period, the employee's supervisor will carefully observe the employee's job performance. Weaknesses in the employee's performance or attitude shall be brought to the employee's attention in a manner appropriate for understanding and self-correction. At any time after the first three months, the supervisor may conduct, at his discretion, an interim employee job evaluation. A new or transferred employee may be granted an extension of one to three months of the initial evaluation period if there is a need for additional time to achieve satisfactory job performance. The evaluation period may be extended by the number of days the employee is absent from scheduled work.

Employees whose job performance is deemed by their supervisors to be unsatisfactory after reasonable efforts have been made to improve their performance may be terminated at any time. Transferred or promoted employees who are unable to perform satisfactorily on their new jobs during or at the end of their evaluation period shall be treated on an individual basis. If results of a background investigation indicate that a new employee is not suited for employment with the Company, then the employee may be terminated.

During their initial evaluation period, new employees are not eligible for paid holidays or personal time off (PTO).

This language stating the Company's general practice of initial evaluation periods does not modify the Company's right to terminate employees at will.
